Appraisal: What to Expect

This is a short video about what to expect when you need an appraisal.

When you contact an appraiser, they will ask a number of questions to determine the purpose of your appraisal and to better understand how they can help you.

The appraiser will perform some type of inspection: in person, from photographs, or a live video meeting. The type of inspection is determined by the purpose of the appraisal.

Once the appraiser gathers the information they need from the inspection they will research the property, the market that property is traded in and will determine a value. Don't expect that the appraiser will provide values during the inspection. They may already have an opinion but it is unlikely they will share it until they have more complete information.

When the appraiser completes the appraisal it is likely that it will be delivered to you in a digital format. Make sure your appraiser knows if you are expecting a paper copy.
